Sometimes a new idea can be too new. While teaching at the University of Utah in the mid-1990s, Ragula Bhaskar came up with what he calls "cluster routing"--combining data lines from multiple providers like AT&T and Sprint into a big, fat pipe that would be reliable and secure. Many companies had a hard time grasping the idea. But venture capitalist Tim Draper got it immediately; he decided to invest in Bhaskar's effort. Now FatPipe's hardware flies off the shelves to companies and government agencies of all sizes.
