Digi International and FatPipe Software Team to offer Faster Web Access Solutions
Business Can Achieve Four Times Faster Internet Access with Digi AccelePort 4r 920 and FatPipe Internet Office
Minneapolis / Salt Lake City: Jan 19, 1999 - Digi International (Nasdaq: DGII), the leading provider of server-based communications solutions, and FatPipe Software announced today that their products can be combined to produce higher-speed and more cost-effective Internet access for businesses.
In this unique application, Digi's AccelePort 4r 920 serial port adapter card provides four analog modem connections on a single computer, while the FatPipe Internet Office software combines the four lines into a single, secure, high-speed connection to the Internet for Web browsing, FTP site downloads, and email.
Combining the four lines into a single connection allows businesses to increase their Internet access speeds. The FatPipe Internet Office software produces higher access speeds by teaming modems and efficiently proportioning Internet data across available modems. The combined product solution also allows some businesses to cut Internet access costs by as much as 50 percent by reducing their number of ISP accounts and required modems.
Digi and FatPipe Team to Offer High-Speed Internet Access
"We needed to speed up our Internet time, free up phone lines and streamline our systems," said Santosh Limaye, president of Lo Tec in Salt Lake City. "Now, every month we save about $172 on ISP connection fees and keeping the phone lines free has given our customers better access and boosted our bottom line. FatPipe saves us money, but the best part is that our Internet is twice as fast."
The AccelePort and FatPipe Internet Office combination works in any Windows NT or NetWare environment, while providing full security and redundancy for failsafe connections. FatPipe Internet Office comes complete with an Access Manager, which allows administrators to limit Internet access on an individual basis and assign access rights to specified individuals. Network address translation (NAT) provides security against outside invaders. For redundancy, the software can be configured to automatically reroute information to an available modem line. The product combination requires little or no training and can be installed within minutes.
"The combination of FatPipe Internet Office and Digi's AccelePort card is a flexible, inexpensive and fast solution for power consultants, graphic designers and small businesses," said Ragula Bhaskar, president and chief executive officer at FatPipe Software. "We view Digi as the major player in the Internet access market, and we believe this combined solution will give seamless integration and access to the Internet."
The AccelePort 4r 920 is an intelligent, high-speed serial port card providing up to 921.6 Kbps data throughput for a variety of multiuser environments and applications. The product comes in two-, four-, and eight-port models, supports every major operating system, and is one of the fastest, most reliable products available for dial in/dial out access available on the market.
"Our AccelePort card is a proven success in small business, multiuser environments due to its reliable performance, low cost and ability to support and enhance software applications from innovative developers like FatPipe Software," said Joe Toste, director of product management and marketing at Digi International. "This application highlights the performance benefits and cost savings that can result by deploying open-systems communications solutions."
Both products are available for shipment worldwide. The Digi AccelePort 4r 920 is priced starting at $US845, while FatPipe's Internet Office software (office version) is priced at $US299.
