FatPipe Networks' CEO to Discuss Broadband’s Near Future at UITA Luncheon
MIDVALE, UT: February 13, 2001 - Advances in broadband communication channels and the dynamics of a changing industry will be addressed at the Utah Information Technologies Association (UITA) luncheon in the Centennial Room at The E-Center on February 21.
Ragula Bhaskar, Ph.D., president and chief executive officer of FatPipe Networks, will speak during the luncheon. Bhaskar’s topic, “Broadband’s Home Stretch: The Perils and Promise of the Last Mile,” will cover the history of broadband communications and the following main points related to the growing industry:
- How broadband will impact businesses and private consumers
- The prospect of a wireless broadband
- Pricing in the general markets
“Broadband technology is causing some serious realignment in the current communications industry,” said Richard Nelson, president and chief executive officer of UITA, “The exciting developments and new discoveries of broadband communications will create a rippling effect that will change the way we work and play.”
Bhaskar was formerly an associate professor of Engineering at the University of Utah, and was the youngest member of an advisory committee to the U.S. Secretary of Labor on labor-related technology issues. He is a winner of several awards for academic achievements, is a member of Mensa, an international forum for intellectual exchange, and is a former member of Sigma Xi, the scientific research honor society.
Bhaskar has a strong background in finance and has developed a long-term product strategy for FatPipe based on present and future markets. Bhaskar obtained a doctorate in engineering, and a master’s degree in engineering and operations research and a master’s degree in business administration, with specialization in finance from Penn State University.
A pre-lunch networking session will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the lunch will follow at 12:00 p.m. For UITA members, the cost is $20 and $30 for late registration after Friday, February 16, 2001.
