Site Load Balancing / Failover

Site Load Balancing / Failover

Overview

Quality of Service (QoS)Site Load Balancing, built on FatPipe's patent pending SmartDNS technology, provides resiliency and continuity for your business. It can distribute traffic between two sites, utilizing all lines available at each site.

Unlike traditional master/backup solutions, FatPipe Site Load Balancing utilizes both sites' bandwidth and other resources. Site Load Balancing gives you more availability of your other services.

To implement Site Load Balancing, two or more sites should be configured identically. Any change made to one site will be propagated to all other sites.

Site Load Balancing determines the status of each site dynamically. If any lines are down at a site, Site Load Balancing will detect it. Every line at each location is given a priority or primary or back-up. Only IP addresses belonging to primary lines will be handed out for DNS replies. If all primary lines are down, then IP addresses belonging to backup lines will be handed out for DNS replies.

Once the site units are able to communicate with each other, you will see a table showing the status of the lines at each location (see Figure 1). FatPipe Site Load Balancing is an optional feature available upon request.

How FatPipe Prevents Network Downtime

  • Redundant connections mitigate last-mile vulnerabilities
  • Diverse access hardware prevents hardware-related outages
  • Multiple paths keep applications up during network maintenance
  • Freedom to choose routing architecture that work for your business

Features & Benefits

  • Ten levels of traffic priorities
  • Gives granular control over application and associated bandwidth. Applications can be classified up to ten levels of priorities. The remaining traffic will be best efforts.

  • Real Time Optimization
  • Optimizes real time and standard traffic regardless of application

  • Always guarantees the minimum quality and bandwidth you require
  • Guarantees performance of applications like CRM and thin client by optimizing response times.

  • Efficient use of all links
  • Combined with link load balancing allows the QoS Rules to be implemented across multiple links, adding reliability to the WAN and efficient use of the links

  • FatPipe's QoS scales the quality rules to available lines in case of a line failure
  • Adds redundancy to the WAN infrastructure while maintaining performance for critical applications.

  • Controls WAN costs by reducing bandwidth requirements
  • Allocates bandwidth to business applications and control recreational traffic.

  • Easy Installation
  • Up and running very quickly with very little configuration required.

  • Guarantees prioritization of real-time voice/video traffic
  • VoIP and video traffic will always get higher priority than other types of traffic to ensure quality.

  • Guarantees pre-allocated bandwidth for mission Critical data
  • Customers can allocate fixed amount of bandwidth for different types of traffic - 25% Video, 15% VoIP, 20% database, etc.

  • Prevents "over provisioning of network" by solving QoS problems on the customer side
  • Bandwidth allocation adding to 100% allows efficient utilization of WAN.

  • Maximizes utilization of network link
  • Provides policies for per application and per user. Provides fairness between users and prevents one application or user from congesting a link.

  • Throttles traffic to prevent congestion
  • Improves bandwidth utilization by controlling recreational and malicious traffic.

  • Enhances quality of VPN traffic
  • Gives higher priority to point-to-point traffic than internet traffic to improve inter-office communication.

  • Monitors the SLA with your ISP to ensure quality service
  • Provides latency and bandwidth utilization reports that allows for better monitoring of line.
